Pirates CARE-a-van comes to Butler

The Pirates Charities CARE-a-van made a stop on Thursday afternoon at the Salvation Army on West Cunningham Street.

Pitchers Jameson Taillon and Nick Kingham, infielders Jeff Branson and Max Moroff, and catchers Jordan Comadena and Jacob Stallings donned their game jerseys and descended on the Shawn and Christina Pinnell family with huge bags of wrapped Christmas presents.

The five Pinnell children shrieked with delight as they opened packages containing Hatchimals, coats, stuffed animals and a guitar.

The players interacted with the kids and their parents, who said they were honored and grateful to be recipients of the CARE-aVan visit.

“We've been doing this throughout all sorts of communities, but there's something about putting a smile on kids' faces that is special,” said Taillon.

A full report will appear in Friday's Butler Eagle.
