Butler to Pittsburgh bus service begins Dec. 18

Butler Transit Authority Executive Director John Paul shows the inside of a new CNG bus that is being used for the planned commuter service to Pittsburgh.

The Butler Transit Authority will begin using compressed natural gas buses to ferry commuters between Butler and Pittsburgh on Monday, Dec. 18.

The cost will be $5 per trip, and multi-trip packages are available.

BTA executive director John Paul said in a news release that the authority has been working closely with State Rep. Brian Ellis, R-11, on the project to provide service to and from Pittsburgh.

The route will be from downtown Butler down Route 8 South to Route 228 West, and then Interstate 279 South to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

Tentative stops planned for the route include the bus terminal on East Cunningham Street, the former Shop 'n Save parking lot in Pullman Square, Glade Run Church in Middlesex Township and Twelve Oaks Mansion in Adams Township.
