A Parker man was sentenced to state prison in Butler County Court on Tuesday, after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two girls.
Lawrence L. Everetts, 50, was sentenced to seven to 17 years in a state correctional institution by Judge William Shaffer. He was also ordered to undergo lifetime sexual offenders registration and to pay court costs.
Everetts pleaded guilty to felony rape and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 yeas old on July 17.
He was initially charged with felony rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, as well as two counts each of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and indecent exposure and one count of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old.
Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Simon said the Commonwealth was not pursuing the “sexually violent predator” designation against Everetts because of current case law that has recently come down from the state appellate courts, making the designation unconstitutional.
