Business owner accused of taking money from clients

PENN TWP — The owner of a kitchen design and remodeling business in the township is accused of taking more than $8,000 for services that police say were never rendered.

Christian J. Sheasley, 48, of Hermitage, Mercer County, faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday on felony charges of theft by deception and home improvement fraud.

Penn Township Police last week charged Sheasley, owner of Linx Creative Kitchen and Bath, in connection with the case that began May 8 when a customer made a down payment of $8,055 for the installation of kitchen cabinets, according to court documents.

The alleged victim on July 20 sent Sheasley an email inquiring about when the cabinets would be installed. The defendant replied that he did not know.

The customer told investigators that in October she made several more attempts to contact Sheasley by telephone and email but got no response.

The victim on Oct. 23 also contacted the cabinet maker that the defendant had claimed was going to supply the cabinets for the project, documents said, and learned that neither he nor his business had placed such an order.

Police allege Sheasley has “failed to return any money to the victim or attempted to make contact with (her) regarding the services.”
