GROVE CITY — Grove City High School senior Emily Gordon has been named District 10 Region 1 Girls Tennis Player of the Year.

Gordon was undefeated during the regular season. Grove City won the Region 1 title as a team.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College basketball teams dropped a pair of games to Prince George Community College Friday night.Mackenzie Craig had 29 points and 24 rebounds in the Pioneers' 74-61 women's loss. Carley Burdett added 15 points, Lydia Roth 13 points and seven assists for BC3 (1-5).The Pioneer men slipped to 0-6 with a 94-87 loss. Joel Stutz had 23 points, Justice Lewandowski 16 points and eight rebounds, Brendon Record and Jace Stutz 14 points each. Kaden Rock had five assists.Both BC3 teams host Penn State Dubois Monday night. The women tip off at 5 p.m., the men at 7 p.m.

PITTSBURGH — It was an adventurous night for Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford.Crawford briefly left the game in the second period after a collision. He returned and was interfered with during an apparent tying goal that was waved off and then stood firm during a late surge to secure the win.Crawford's strong play allowed Artem Anisimov's third-period power-play goal to stand as the game-winner, and the Blackhawks continued their winning streak against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night.Anisimov scored his 10th goal of the season just 21 seconds after Pittsburgh tied the game. Gustav Forsling scored his second for the Blackhawks, who won their eighth straight against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins.The Blackhawks, with five power-play goals in their last three games, have won three of their last four after taking two of their previous seven.Crawford made 35 saves for Chicago, including a right-pad stop on Phil Kessel in the final 20 seconds.

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Cam Phillips had 117 yards receiving and scored the game-winning touchdown, and Virginia Tech's defense kept Pittsburgh out of the end zone on the final play to lift the Hokies to a 20-14 victory over the Panthers on Saturday.Phillips broke the school record for career receiving yardage when he hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Jackson with 6:23 remaining. The touchdown gave the Hokies (8-3, 4-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) a 20-14 lead, and they held on, snapping a two-game losing streak.
