Two injured in Route 8 accident

Both drivers were hurt in a two-vehicle crash this morning on Route 8 northbound at Old Plank Road in Penn Township, authorities said.

The wreck happened shortly before 7 a.m. when a sport utility vehicle rear-ended a pickup truck.

Michael Grujich, 43, and Rodney Myers, no age given, of Butler were both taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with apparent minor injuries.

Penn Township Police said Myers, who is believed to be in his 50s, was slowing down in the right lane to make a right turn onto Old Plank Road when his GMC Sierra was hit from behind by Grujich's Nissan Rogue.

One of the men had neck and head pain and the other complained of back and shoulder pain. Both drivers were still in their vehicles when emergency crews arrived.

Penn Township volunteer firefighters and a Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to them and got them out of the vehicles.

One of the northbound lanes was closed to traffic around the crash scene. A portion of Old Plank Road also was shut down until the vehicles were towed and the debris field cleaned up.

Police said Grujich faces at least one traffic ticket.
