RICHLAND TWP, Cambria County — When the Freeport volleyball team returned home dejected after a WPIAL 2A final loss, the Yellowjackets made a pact.

“We're not going to lose again,” junior Haley Graham said.

They didn't. The Yellowjackets bounced back from a first-game loss to beat Delone Catholic, 23-25, 25-9, 25-23, 25-22, for the PIAA 2A championship Saturday afternoon at Richland High School.

Freeport (23-3) won four consecutive state games after their WPIAL final loss, culminating in the school's first PIAA championship.
