Date ends with troopers being called

EAST BUTLER — A Butler man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman on a date — and kicked two troopers who responded to the incident.

The woman told state police that she was on her second date with Kurt W. Camus, 50, last week before the night ended with him behind bars on felony assault and other charges.

Police were called about 9 p.m. Thursday to the victim's apartment where she said Camus had attacked her for no apparent reason, according to court documents.

Police said when they got there they found Camus on the second floor, smashing out a window. He reeked of alcohol and was quickly detained.

But Camus soon caused another commotion, this time with police, documents said.

He is accused of kicking Troopers Nathan Spangler and Gregory Hays while they tried to gain control of him on the floor. He also allegedly shouldered Spangler into a wall.

During the altercation Camus told the troopers that they “weren't real,” according to a police affidavit.

Police eventually had to forcibly remove him from the apartment.
