MARIETTA, Ohio — Shelbi Westfield of Cranberry Township was one of 37 members of the Physician Assistant Studies Program at Marietta College to participate in the annual White Coat ceremony in October.

The ceremony was the official welcome into the physician assistant profession following Westfield’s time as a student. It is a step toward becoming a certified physician assistant.

Westfield expects to graduate in July 2019.

BEREA, Ohio — Christopher Banfield of Valencia, Savanah Craig of Chicora, Hope Fierro of Cranberry Township, Lance Hahn of Cranberry Township and Daniel Kovach of Freeport earned endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall.

Banfield, a graduate of Mars High School who is majoring in computer science, earned the Theo and Belle Moll Scholarship.

Craig, a Butler High School graduate who is majoring in biology, earned the Dr. Dante Scarpelli Scholarship.

Fierro, who is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School majoring in public health, earned the Florence N. Gray Scholarship.

Hahn, a graduate of Seneca Valley majoring in music education, earned the Lillian and Cecil Munk Scholarship — Non-Honors Day.

Kovach, who is a graduate of Freeport High School majoring in biology and public relations, earned the Claude and Carol Weagraff Scholarship.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Victoria Silvis of Sarver and Vincent Gray of Butler recently accepted leadership roles at Youngstown State University.

Silvis is a biology major and vice president of the university’s Biology Club.

Gray is a chemical engineering major and vice president of Rotaract, YSU.
