Smith wins Butler mayoral race

Republican Ben Smith has been elected the next mayor of Butler, according to unofficial results posted online by county officials.
Smith held a commanding lead over Democratic candidate Jamie Lee Goehring from the outset Tuesday night. At about 9:30 p.m., with five of the city’s six voting precincts reporting, Smith had won 938 votes, or more than 60 percent. Goehring had won 531 votes, or a little more than 34 percent.
