Rocco, Trojans win big

CWNC wraps up conference title

Zack Rocco threw for a touchdown and ran for two more as the Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic football team routed Freedom, 51-0, Friday night.

The win clinched the Midwestern Conference title for the Trojans (8-2, 7-0).

Joe Meinert also had a big day for North Catholic with two rushing touchdowns.

The first, a 57-yard run, put the Trojans up 14-0.

The second, a 29-yard scoring burst, made it 24-0.

North Catholic lead 38-0 at the half.

Ridgway 41, Union/A-C Valley 14 — Jonathan Powell scored on a 41-yard reception from Lucas Bowser and Jeffrey Ginn also found the end zone on a 1-yard plunge, but the Knight Falcons couldn't overcome a slow start in the season finale.

Union/A-C Valley (1-9) fell behind 28-0 at the half and 35-0 early in the third quarter.

Johnny Mitchell tossed three touchdown passes for Ridgway (7-3), which outgained Union/A-C Valley 232-96 in the first half.

Summit Academy 44, Avella 20 — The Knights clinched a spot in the WPIAL Class A playoffs with this blowout win.

Tennis

The Knoch girls tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Wyomissing in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals.

Knoch's top two singles players did not finish.
