Man charged in baseball-bat attack

CHERRY TWP — A township man is accused of attacking a neighbor with a metal baseball bat.

State police arrested Ryan L. Eddy, 49, who is charged with felony assault and other charges in the incident last week on Rock Hill Lane in Cherry Township.

Troopers were called about 6 p.m. Thursday for a reported assault and spoke to the alleged victim, Michael Beachem, who appeared to have an injury on his left thigh.

“Eddy began yelling obscenities,” according to the affidavit, “and stated to the victim, “I’m going to get you now.’”

He is accused of hitting Beachem in the left thigh and chasing him around with the metal bat. The victim, who suffered bruising on the thigh, managed to get into his home and lock the door.

But Eddy wasn’t finished. Police said he struck the hood of his neighbor’s pickup truck with the bat before fleeing.

Eddy was arraigned Friday on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

He is free on $5,000 bail.
