Cubs hold off L.A., will host Game 5

CHICAGO — Jake Arrieta struck out nine in 6.1 innings and the Chicago Cubs used three solo home runs to stave off elimination in the National League Championship Series Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.

Javier Baez homered twice and Wilson Contreras once for the Cubs in a 3-2 victory over Los Angeles in Game 4 of the series.

Game 5 will be Thursday night at Wrigley Field. Clayton Kershaw will be on the mound for the Dodgers.

Cody Bellinger homered for the Dodgers in the third inning after Baez and Contreras homered off Los Angeles starter Alex Wood in the first two frames.

Baez hit his second homer in the fifth before Justin Turner belted a solo shot for the Dodgers in the eighth. Turner has six RBI in the series.

Wade Davis pitched a two-inning save for the Cubs, getting Bellinger to ground into a game-ending double play with the tying run on first.

Turner, 2-for-2 with two walks on the night, was on deck.
