Fire quickly contained in Zelienople

Firefighters say a fire at Eagle Rubber Products was quickly contained and snuffed out Friday morning, though crews are still on-scene at the business.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a structure fire shortly after 9 a.m., at the business’ facility at 306 Halstead Boulevard in Zelienople. Responders found smoke pouring from the one story building and quickly contained a fire which was caused by a duct, which they removed before the fire spread. Firefighters said the fire did not spread from the duct to the building.

The only sign of any incident now is the smoke still lingering in the building.

Emergency crews were still on the scene as of 9:45 a.m., helping to air out the structure.

The company is a custom manufacturer of rubber elastomer parts including gaskets, rubber roll covering, stripper rings and more.
