Dodgers up 3-0 on fading Cubs

Darvish grabs 6-1 triumph at Wrigley

CHICAGO — Yu Darvish made one mistake. His Dodger teammates more than made up for it.

Darvish scattered six hits and struck out seven in 6.1 innings Tuesday night at Wrigley Field as Los Angeles pulled within one win of securing the National League pennant with a 6-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.

The win gives the Dodgers a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series. Game 4 is Wednesday night in Chicago.

Darvish allowed a first-inning home run to the Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber, but L.A. used power of its own to snatch the lead away. Andre Ethier homered in the second inning and Chris Taylor added a solo shot in the third.

Former Pirate Tony Watson relieved Darvish with one out in the seventh and retired both hitters he faced.

Taylor, Ethier and Yasiel Puig had two hits each for the Dodgers. Taylor tripled home a run in the fifth.

Darvish drew a bases-loaded walk from Carl Edwards in the sixth to extend the Dodger lead to 4-1. A wild pitch and passed ball plated two more Los Angeles runs in the seventh.

Kris Bryant had a pair of hits for the Cubs. Chicago starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks took the loss, allowing three earned runs in five innings.

The Cubs got their first two runners on in the ninth, but Dodger closer Kenley Jansen came on to record the final three outs.
