Tuesday — Lili M. Szymecki, 36, of Butler was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and lying to police in connection with an incident last week at West Brady Street and Wagner Avenue.

Police said they came upon Szymecki at about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2 after they got a call for an intoxicated woman leaning against a utility pole, according to court documents. She initially gave officers a fake name before providing her true identity. She also admitted that she was wanted on a bench warrant.

Police confirmed the warrant and searched Szymecki, who was found with two stamp bags and one empty bag of suspected heroin and a spoon, documents said.

Szymecki was taken to the Butler County Prison for the warrant. While being searched at the prison, police said they found a syringe in her underwear.

She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and false identification to law enforcement authorities.

Tuesday — Cynthia Ann McCallister, 36, who has no known address, was charged in connection with the August theft of a PlayStation 4 console from a home on the 200 block of East Brady Street. The theft was reported on Sept. 8 by a victim who said McCallister had previously been at the home.

McCallister faces misdemeanor theft charges.

Tuesday — Police charged Bryant K. Wells Sr., 48, of Butler with possession of drug paraphernalia last month when he was arrested on a warrant on the 700 block of Center Avenue.

Police said they found Wells about 2:40 a.m. Sept. 29 when he flagged down an officer, according to court documents, to report being in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend earlier that evening.

But police already had an arrest warrant for Wells in connection with a Sept. 12 misdemeanor drug possession case.

When officers searched him following his arrest, documents said, they found 39 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, three crack pipes and a hypodermic needle.

7:43 p.m. Thursday — Jessica Mrozoski, 28, of Butler suffered a minor injury in a head-on accident on New Castle Road hill in front of the state police barracks, police said.

According police a car driven by Kristin Baker, 42, of Butler traveled into the oncoming lane and collided with Mrozoski’s vehicle.

Police cited Baker for reckless driving, passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

1:07 a.m. Wednesday — A Prospect couple allegedly shoplifted 58 items of merchandise at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Police said Robert L. Murray, 54, and Bobbie Jo Goodman, 49, walked out of the store with property valued at a $95.

According to a police report, Murray was previously barred from the store for shoplifting in 2014. He is charged with felony counts of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft and a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property. Murray is also charged with summary defiant trespass and driving with a suspended license.

Goodman is charged with conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property, and a summary count of retail theft.

Tuesday — Jeffrey P. Lopez, 35, and Kelly C. McCluskey, 31, both of Slippery Rock were each charged with a pair of felonies in connection with a Sept. 5 shoplifting incident at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Both defendants are charged with felony counts of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft and summary trespass.

8:26 a.m. Oct. 3 — Nelson D. Wallace, 45, of New Castle was caught with suspected drugs and other contraband in a room at the Super 8 motel on Route 8. Police said they found him at the motel while making a welfare check.

A search turned up a small amount of crack cocaine and a crack pipe. Wallace is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 2 — Police charged Hope E. Foote, 30, of Butler in connection with a fraud investigation earlier this year. She is accused of cashing two unauthorized checks on April 30 at the Woodforest National Bank at Butler Commons.

The checks — owned by an 81-year-old Butler woman and a 48-year-old Virginia man — were cashed for a combined $750, police said.

Foote is charged with two felony counts of forgery and a felony count of access device fraud. She also is charged with two misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property.

8 p.m. Wednesday — Aaron L. Goempel, 31, of Pittsburgh was arrested for drugged driving on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Police said he was pulled over for erratic driving.

Goempel was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

Thursday — Police reported they suspect a 47-year-old Worthington woman of fraud in a case involving a family estate. Police said no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

Tuesday — Tina L. Drenning, 52, of Mercer was charged with stealing a $75 debit card last week from the Walmart in Pine Township, Mercer County, where she worked at the time. The alleged crime happened Oct. 7.

Drenning is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.

1:45 p.m. Monday — A minivan was set on fire in a field along Center Street Extension in Pine Township, Mercer County. No one was injured but the 2002 Pontiac Montana, valued at $500, was destroyed.

The fire marshal at the Butler barracks subsequently ruled arson in the case. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
