[naviga:h3]500,000 Diono car seats recalled[/naviga:h3]

More than 500,000 child car seats made by Diono are being recalled because they may not adequately protect children in a crash.

The recall covers the Radian R100, Radian R120, Radian RXT, Olympia, Pacifica, and Rainier convertible and booster seats. They were made from as early as January 2014 to September of this year by Diono, which used to be called Sunshine Kids Juvenile.

Documents posted Thursday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say that when the seats are secured using a lap belt without the top tether, children over 65 pounds have an increased risk of chest injury in a crash.

The company said it would send owners a kit with an energy absorbing pad and a new chest clip at no cost. The recall is expected to start Nov. 22.

[naviga:h3]Shares of TV providers drop[/naviga:h3]

NEW YORK — Signs that more people are dropping their traditional TV subscriptions weighed on TV providers’ stocks Thursday.

AT&T said it lost 90,000 video subscribers in the U.S. in the third quarter. It’s a steeper drop than the same period last year, even though gains from its newer, cheaper online cablelike service, DirecTV Now, are included. DirecTV Now wasn’t available in the July-September quarter in 2016.

DirecTV Now added 300,000 subscribers in the quarter, so AT&T lost about 390,000 satellite TV and cable customers.

AT&T, which is also the No. 2 wireless carrier in the U.S., blames tough competition from both traditional TV providers like Comcast and newer digital-video services like YouTube TV. It also blames the impact from hurricanes and stricter credit standards for customers.

AT&T’s prediction, issued after the market closed Wednesday, echoed Comcast’s forecast in early September of third-quarter losses of 100,000 to 150,000 video customers due. That would be Comcast’s largest quarterly loss since 2014. Comcast also blamed competition and weather.

AT&T stock fell 6.1 percent to close at $35.86 Thursday. Shares of cable companies Comcast, Charter and Altice and rival satellite TV provider Dish also dropped.

[naviga:h3]Tesla recalls SUVs for rear seat issue[/naviga:h3]

DETROIT — Tesla Inc. is recalling 11,000 Model X SUVs worldwide because their rear seats might not lock into place.

The recall involves vehicles with fold-flat second row seats made between Oct. 28, 2016, and Aug. 16, 2017. Tesla believes only about 3 percent of the recalled vehicles have the issue.

Tesla says some cables in the seat may have been improperly tightened, which prevents the left seat from locking in an upright position. If it’s not properly locked, it could move forward during a crash.

The automaker says it has seen no reports of injuries from the issue, which was discovered during internal testing.

Owners can take their Model X to a dealer for repairs or contact Tesla’s mobile repair units.
