Scoop provided perfect forecast

Yeah, I’m pretty good.

No, great. I think great would be a better word.

I don’t want to brag (well, I kinda do), but the Ol’ Scoopster went 12-0 last week. That’s 12 wins. That’s zero losses. As in none. As in I was perfect.

It wasn’t just a one week flash in the pan, either, folks. In the last three weeks, my record is 33-2.

Take that, naysayers who said I was washed up earlier in the season.

Let’s see if I can keep my awesome streak alive this week. There are several games that could go either way, so it will definitely be a challenge to escape unscathed.

On to the picks:

Norwin 24, Butler 19 — In our first coin-flip game, the Tornado host Norwin. Normally I would go with the home team in such cases, but I have to go with the visitors in this one.

North Allegheny 30, Seneca Valley 18 — The Raiders have shown a penchant for hanging with the best teams around. The Tigers pull away late, though.

New Castle 34, Knoch 16 — The Knights got their offense on a roll last week, but New Castle is a tough opponent.

Knoch will hang in there, but the Hurricane will pull this one out.

Mars 33, Ambridge 9 — The Planets bounce back in a big way.

Seton-La Salle 21, Freeport 20 — In another pick-em game, this one is essentially for the section title.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 19, Riverside 16 — Flip a coin again in another de facto section championship game. The coin lands on the Trojans.

Clarion-Limestone 41, Moniteau 16 — If the Warriors can shore up a defense that has been leaky lately, this game could be closer than this.

Clarion 30, Karns City 29 — Get that coin out again — this one, too, could go either way. This time I do give a slight edge to the home team.

Brookville 45, Union/A-C Valley 17 — The Falcon Knights are capable of keeping up with Brookville offensively — they have the firepower.

But Brookville has too much firepower of its own.

Sharpsville 18, Slippery Rock 9 — The Rockets broke out of their offensive funk last week and scored 41 points in the first half.

This will be another defensive struggle, though.

Grove City 41, Fairview 3 — The Eagles are 17-2 in the last two seasons and they’ve compiled that record by no accident.

Grove City is one of the most complete teams around. The Eagles can beat you passing, running, on special teams and on defense.

All of those areas will excel again this week.

Summit Academy 31, Sto-Rox 15 — The Knights are a dangerous team. I’ve been saying that all season.

They’ll show struggling Sto-Rox just how dangerous they are.

Scoop has had a lot to “crow” about recently and is looking for perfection again.
