Planets complete shutout streak

Mars did more than run the table in girls soccer section play this season.

The Planets (13-1, 10-0) did not allow a goal in section competition all year, completing the run with a 4-0 win over Hampton Wednesday night.

Ellie Coffield scored three goals and Megan Zukowski added one. Taylor Hamlett had three assists.

Mars' final regular season game is next Wednesday against North Allegheny.

Freeport 6, Highlands 1 — Jenna Manke had four saves for the Yellowjackets (13-2-1, 10-0-1) and Zoe Fair added two.

Kaylee Comperatore, Sidney Shemanski, Piper Claypool, Abba Bastaja and Lexi Dell all scored for Freeport, which closes section play Monday at Deer Lakes.

Volleyball

Freeport made quick work of Valley Wednesday night, defeating the Vikings 25-4, 25-5, 25-7.

Isabella Russo had five kills, three blocks and five service points fior the Yellowjackets (14-2, 11-0). Tori Radvan added five kills, two blocks and five service points, Mallory Stopko 12 service points and three aces.

Freeport hosts Derry on Thursday for Senior Night.

Slippery Rock 3, Grove City 2 — Annika Peale, Sydney Semple and Madison Chechak each had nine kills as the Rockets outlasted the Eagles 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 17-15.

Chechak also added 28 digs.

Morgan Malinski had 31 assists and Amya Altman chipped in 26 dig for Slippery Rock (7-7).

No individual stats were available for Grove City.

Boys Soccer

Freeport 7, Derry 0 — Bryce Hanby scored two goals and added two assists for the Yellowjackets (12-4, 8-3) in this Senior Night game Tuesday.

Braden Change had a goal and two assists while Hunter Hardin added a goal and assist. Alec Parker, Trent Parker and Dan Lynch also scored for Freeport.
