4:51 p.m. Friday — A 31-year-old Butler man suffered an apparent overdose on railroad tracks along Etna Street. Police said they found Travis Hilliard unconscious but breathing under the South Main Street bridge.

A Butler Ambulance Service crew responded and he was revived with a dose of the opioid antidote Narcan. He admitted using a bag of heroin, according to a police report.

Police said they found no drug paraphernalia at the scene. Hilliard refused further medical treatment at the hospital.

1:27 a.m. Friday — Elijah A. Huellen, 29, of Butler was caught with a crack pipe and syringe following a traffic stop on Broad Street. He was a passenger in the car.

Huellen is charged with two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Roger J. Gray, 43, who has no known address, in connection with a July shoplifting incident at a downtown drugstore.

Surveillance footage at the Rite Aid on South Main Street helped police identify Gray as the suspect who swiped a $6 flashlight, according to court documents.

The defendant, who has one prior retail theft conviction, is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

9:08 a.m. Saturday — Jesus J. Almendarez Sr., 65, of Butler lost control of his vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a utility pole along Dutchtown Road. The pole was broken in the crash.

Almendarez was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed. Police cited him for careless driving.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

2 p.m. Thursday — Robert H. Booher, 45, of Emlenton was arrested on a bench warrant following a traffic stop at South Center and Jackson streets. Booher was wanted on the warrant out of Clarion County for failing to appear at a hearing in a fraud case.

He was placed in the Mercer County Jail to await transport back to Clarion County.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]

Thursday — Police charged a Venango County teenager with breaking into a Slippery Rock University student’s on-campus home last month and taking a laptop computer valued at $1,000.

Eric J. Hoffman, 19, of Franklin is charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He is accused of kicking in a door at the Building E student-housing complex, according to court documents.

The victim’s roommate told police that he witnessed the alleged crime.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

2:37 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Scott E. Ritter, 38, of Karns City collided with another car on Route 8 just west of Mercer Road in Center Township.

Police said the wreck happened when Ritter crossed over Route 8 from one private lot to another private lot, causing a rear-end collision. Scott A. Carr, 34, of Butler was the other driver.

Ritter was cited for improperly entering or crossing a road and driving without a license.

Oct. 2 — Patricia E. Lachance, 51, of Saxonburg was charged with drugged driving stemming from an April crash in Center Township. Police said the wreck happened about 2:35 p.m. April 9 when she wrecked her van on Mercer Road after swerving to avoid another vehicle in front of her.

Lachance, who was unable to complete field sobriety testing, admitted that she “takes many medications for illnesses,” according to court documents. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries in the crash and for a blood test.

Toxicology reports showed she had multiple unspecified drugs in her system.

She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, disregarding traffic lanes and following too closely to another vehicle.

Oct. 2 — David L. Bouch, 58, of Penn Township was charged with drunken driving in connection with a July traffic stop in Center Township. Bouch was pulled over about 2:50 a.m. July 2 for crossing the double yellow lines and the fog line on Route 8 near Sunset Drive.

He was taken to the barracks following field sobriety tests and given a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.155 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to DUI, Bouch is charged with failing to keep right and careless driving.

Oct. 2 — Police charged Cullen J. Lorenz, 18, of Butler with having a marijuana pipe following an August traffic stop in Summit Township.

Troopers found the teenager about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29 on Binsey Road where his car was stopped in the westbound lane without its hazard lights on, according to court documents. Police said they smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the car.

Lorenz subsequently turned over a marijuana pipe that was still warm, police said. He is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to activate hazard lights.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

1:15 a.m. Saturday — A Butler teenager was one of two men caught with 52 grams of suspected marijuana as well as marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia at a home in Madison Township.

Troopers found the drugs and contraband at the home where a 22-year-old man lives, according to a police report. The 18-year-old Butler man also was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Police said the investigation continues and they did not identify either man.

Oct. 1 — Police reported they are continuing to investigate a fire last month that destroyed a single-story house on Route 58 in Richland Township, Clarion County.

The fire broke out about 11:45 p.m. Sept. 26 at the home of 63-year-old Lorraine Girty of Parker. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at $75,000.

The St. Petersburg Fire Department asked the state police fire marshal to investigate the blaze. Police believe the fire started in the attic but they have yet to determine a cause.
