Grove City falls hard at home, 53-10

Sophomore running back Wesley Schools had 22 carries for 100 yards, but Grove City College had its modest two-game winning streak snapped Saturday with a 53-10 loss to Thomas More at Robert E. Thorn Field.

The Wolverines (2-4, 2-2) scored their lone touchdown on a 38-yard Randall Labrie pass to Matt Pennypacker. Mitch Causer booted a 25-yard field goal for Grove City.

Brenan Kuntz threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns for Thomas More (2-4). Hjavier Pitts rushed for 80 yards and two TDs. Thomas More rolled up 553 yards of offense.

Freshman linebacker Carl Jaszcar led GCC with 10 tackles. Grove City travels to Westminster Saturday.

Volleyball

The Butler County Community College volleyball team won a pair of 3-0 matches over the weekend, defeating CCAC Boyce 25-10, 25-9, 25-15 and Allegany (Md.) 25-4, 25-9, 25-9.

Makenzie Craig had seven kills, Autumn Rodgers six kills, Kelly Kabay 12 digs and Brittney Bianco 19 assists against Boyce. Craig had seven kills, Rodgers five kills and Kabay eight digs against Allegany.

The Pioneers improved to 13-4 overall, 7-1 in WPCC play.

Seton Hill 3, Slippery Rock 0 — The Rock (8-10, 0-6) fell 25-15, 26-24, 25-20. Kaley Fucci had 11 kills, 15 digs, an ace and two block assists in the loss.

The Rock plays Tuesday at Edinboro.

Women's Soccer

Slippery Rock 1, Bloomsburg 0 — Brooke Testa assisted on Skye Kramer's goal in the 17th minute. SRU (7-4-1, 7-3-1) is now 51-8-6 in games played at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock hosts Millersville on Tuesday.

Men's Soccer

Slippery Rock 1, Bloomsburg 0 — Luke Picchi scored the first goal of his SRU career nearly 38 minutes into the game. Jonathan Sharp made six saves for The Rock (3-5-3, 2-2-2) for his fourth shutout of the season.

The Rock travels to Salem International on Tuesday.

Women's Tennis

SRU (3-0) picked up wins of 9-0 over Bloomsburg and 9-0 over Shippensburg, finishing its fall schedule.

Lauren Fadden had a 7-1 at singles this fall while Lacey Cohen was 7-2.

Field Hockey

Shippensburg 3, Slippery Rock 1 — The fifth-ranked Rock (8-5, 3-2) received its lone goal from Kayla Ulrich in this loss to the top-ranked Red Raiders (10-1, 5-0).
