[naviga:h3]Comedy show benefits theater[/naviga:h3]

A dinner and comedy show featuring John Knight and PJ Williams will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Element Cafe, 232 S. Main St. This is a BYOB event.

A limited number of tickets are available at the Element Cafe and at the Holly Pointe Building, Suite 201, 220 S. Main St.

Proceeds will benefit the effort to restore the Penn Theater.

[naviga:h3]Oil well exhibition hours scheduled[/naviga:h3]

PROSPECT — The Muddy Creek Oil Well Living History Exhibit will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the central powerhouse site at Moraine State Park, beyond the State Parks Region 2 office, 195 Park Road.

The Muddy Creek Oil Well is an award-winning restoration site of an antique oil well. The Bessemer gas engine and Marshall-Barr No. 19 oil well equipment is restored and open for visitors to hear and see the industry that powered this region.

Volunteers will operate the engine and answer questions. For more information, visit www.3mjc.org.

,h3>Moraine history author’s subject[/naviga:h3]

PROSPECT — Polly Shaw, author of the book “Images of Modern America Moraine State Park,” will share images and insights of the train stations, people and landscapes during the industrial age when coal, limestone and passengers traveled through the Muddy Creek basin, which is now Lake Arthur.

She will speak from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 at the State Parks Region 2 office conference room, 195 Park Road.

[naviga:h3]Choirs offering free concert[/naviga:h3]

The Butler Senior High School Music Department will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the senior high auditorium, 120 Campus Lane.

The Concert Choir, Mixed Ensemble and the Women’s Ensemble will perform.
