Slippery Rock wins big, 54-14

Slippery Rock jumped out to a 41-0 lead by halftime — holding visiting Lakeview to a single first down — and cruised to a 54-14 football victory at home Friday night.

Seth Slater scored on runs of 28 and 14 yards in the first half for the Rockets (3-4, 3-3). Hunter Prementine, Eithan Beckwith and Vito Pilosi all had TD runs in the first half as well.

Nathan Hyatt had scoring runs of 65 and 73 yards for Slippery Rock in the second half.

CW North Catholic 48, Laurel 14 — Zack Rocco threw for 172 yards and four touchdowns for the Trojans (4-2, 3-0). Three of the scores came in the first half as CWNC had a 27-7 lead at intermission.

Rocco found Tyree Brown for a 13-yard score, Joe Meinert from 42 and 14 yards out and Ryan Maziarz from 30 yards. Brown also caught a 25-yard TD pass from Maziarz.

Meinert scored on a 41-yard run, Pierce Khoury on a 1-yard run for the Trojans.

Laurel (1-5, 1-4) trailed 42-7 entering the final quarter.

Grove City 42, DuBois 0 — Brady Callahan threw for 256 yards and five touchdowns and the Eagles' defense notched their second consecutive shutout in a region rout.

Callahan was 22-of-28 passing and connected on TD passes of 62, 8, 21, 9 and 8.

Qadir Muhammad caught two of Callahan's touchdowns. Logan Lutz, Nick Murawski and AJ Miller were on the receiving end of the others.

Lutz finished with eight receptions for 149 yards.

Tyler Greer gained 142 yards on just 11 carries and Trey Adams added 70 yards on 13 attempts as Grove City rolled up 533 offensive yards.

Meanwhile the Eagles held DuBois to just 96 yards on offense and four yards rushing.

Thomas Jefferson 34, Mars 6 — Jake Richardson scored on a 5 yard run with 1:15 remaining in the game for one of the few highlights for the Planets (4-3).

The Mars defense played well in the first half and the Planets trailed 13-0 at the break, but the Jaguars (6-0) busted out in the second half thanks to quarterback Shane Stump and running back Justin Vigna.

Stump threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another in the third quarter as Thomas Jefferson extended its lead to 27-0.

Vigna, who has scored on a 6-yard run in the second quarter, added another 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth for a 34-0 lead.

Vigna finished with 206 yards rushing on 30 carries.

Brookville 64, Moniteau 28 — Manny McLean scored a pair of touchdowns and Chance Nagy threw for two scores, but the Warriors fell behind 35-6 after one quarter and couldn't recover.

McLean scored on a 96-yard kickoff return to cut the Raiders' lead to 21-6.

He later rumbled 57 yards for a score.

Nagy found Nick Martino for an 8-yard touchdown in the second quarter and hit Wyatt Geibel for an 11-yard score in the fourth.

The Warriors (2-4, 1-3), though, had no answer for Brookville's passing game.

Raiders' freshman quarterback Jack Krug tossed three first-half touchdown passes as Brookville led 51-12 at the break.

The Raiders (6-1, 3-1)scored on the game's final play on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Ohls to Ian Thrush.

Punxsutawney 34, Union/A-C Valley 18 — Alex Woods picked off a screen pass and rumbled for a touchdown and Jeffrey Ginn and Greg Duncan also scored, but the Falcon Knights fell to the Chucks.

Duncan scored on a reception from Lucas Bowser.
