The Grove City Assembly of The International Order of Rainbow for Girls, a Masonic youth group for girls ages 11 to 21, was instituted in September and initiated new members.

The organization has not had meetings in Grove City since 2000.

Rainbow focuses on leadership, service and friendship through teachings of faith, hope and charity.

The assembly has 15 members from Grove City, Slippery Rock, Karns City and Butler.

There also is a pledge group for girls ages 6 to 10.

The girls participated in several service projects in recent months including bowling with physically-challenged persons, collecting items for those affected by flooding in Butler, volunteering at nursing homes, raising money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, and gardening for community beautification.

They also flew with the Experimental Aircraft Association at Venango County Airport, went miniature golfing, had a movie night, and attended a Pittsburgh Youth Symphony concert.

Advisory members installed in September included Krystalyn Anderson, Floyd Kish, Amanda Hockenberry, Angela Higby, Marcie Kish, Melissa Stutzman, Robert Cummings, Evelyn Fields, Matthew Hockenberry, Cindy Murdoch and Dorothy Wester.

Grove City Rainbow’s sponsoring groups are Grove City Masonic Lodge 603 and the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Grove City.
