Cranberry woman was in Las Vegas during mass shooting

Cranberry Township resident Aryelle Teimouri (right) and her boyfriend were in Las Vegas during the mass shooting Sunday night.

CRANBERRY TWP — Aryelle Teimouri was supposed to leave Las Vegas Sunday, but decided to stay an extra day to catch a show and continue enjoying the city.

Teimouri, of Cranberry Township, was in Las Vegas with friends on Sunday during the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Teimouri was in the Casino Royale Hotel & Casino when the shooting occurred just after 10 p.m., about two miles away from Mandalay Bay Hotel where the gunman was perched on the 32nd floor. The gunman fired on a country music concert, killing 59 and wounding 527.

Teimouri said nobody thought it was serious. Then a friend called who had gone home from Vegas earlier that day and said he'd heard there was multiple shooters in the city.

“I was on the phone with him and there was a wave of people who started running away from the doors because someone said there was a shooter on The Strip,” she said.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
