2:42 a.m. Friday — Bryant K. Wells Sr., 48, of Butler was caught with drug paraphernalia after police arrested him on a warrant on the 700 block of Center Avenue.

Police said they found Wells with 39 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, three crack pipes and a hypodermic needle. He faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the arrest warrant that city police obtained Sept. 13. Wells is charged in that warrant with misdemeanor drug possession and disorderly conduct.

8:48 p.m. Thursday — A Beaver County man suffered an apparent overdose at a home on Hickory Street. Michael R. Miller, 26, of Rochester was revived with a dose of the opioid antidote Narcan, which Butler Ambulance Service paramedics administered.

Police said they found no drug paraphernalia at the scene. No other information was immediately available.

Wednesday — Alonzo J. Fleischer, 22, no known address, was charged with leaving a 6-month-old child home alone in July at his friend’s Fairview Avenue apartment while he went to a neighbor’s house.

Police began an investigation based on a referral from ChildLine, the state’s abuse-reporting hot line, indicating that the child had been unsupervised July 13 for a period of time.

The infant’s mother told a detective that she was attending her GED class when she got a text message from Fleischer, according to court documents. He said the child was asleep and he was going to a neighbor’s house.

The mother returned home about 10 minutes later, documents said, and the defendant was still gone. Her child was still sleeping and unharmed.

Fleischer is charged with child endangerment.

7:21 p.m. Sept. 17 — A utility trailer came off a cargo van traveling on South Chestnut Street and struck a building that houses a barbecue joint. No one was injured.

The van driver, Usman A. Chatta, 27, of Cranberry Township told officers that he was northbound hauling the trailer, which came loose and hit the When Pigs Fly building, according to a police report.

The trailer damaged picnic benches outside the restaurant and the front door.

Police said they inspected the trailer hitch and determined its electrical cord, safety chains and cap were not properly secured to the trailer.

Chatta was cited for improperly fastening a load.

9:36 a.m. Sept. 16 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Carla M. Plaisted, 55, of Butler struck six vehicles parked on McKinley Avenue.

According to a police report, Plaisted said she was “playing with her radio and looking for deer” in nearby woods when her vehicle drifted to the side of the road and hit the first car.

Her SUV continued down the hill, hitting the other five vehicles.

Thursday — A Washington Township couple was arraigned on felony shoplifting charges for allegedly trying to steal meat Sept. 15 at the Butler Commons Walmart.

Daniel R. Burns III, 27, and Autumn L. Parks, 23, were released on their own recognizance following arraignment on felony counts of retail theft and conspiracy.

Police said a store security employee stopped the defendants before they walked out of the door without paying for packages of steaks, pork chops and pork sausage, and a loaf of bread, according to court documents. The merchandise was valued at $30.12.

Burns and Parks each have two prior shoplifting convictions, documents said.

Tuesday — Tony Cordero, 25, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a Sept. 10 traffic stop for speeding on Route 8. Police said they clocked his sport utility vehicle going 85 mph in a 50 mph zone.

Cordero, who was stopped about 2:45 a.m. at Vogel Road and Wynnwood Drive, admitted that he had five beers that evening, according to court documents.

A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.174 percent, or more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.

He is charged with driving under the influence and speeding.

Tuesday — Daniel Francis Harigan V, 22, of Jefferson Township was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a hit-and-run crash last month in Jefferson Township.

Police said Harigan about 3:20 a.m. Aug. 12 lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a tree in the front yard of a home on Frazier Road. But he walked away from the scene before troopers got to the wreck, according to court documents.

However, he left his driver’s license inside the vehicle. Police found him at his home. He admitted he was driving the SUV and he admitted he was drunk when he crashed it.

Harigan, police said, acknowledged that he consumed alcohol and smoked “two bowls” of marijuana. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Toxicology results, documents said, showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.107 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. He also had marijuana in his system.

Harigan is charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident and disregarding traffic lanes,

1:35 a.m. Sept. 16 — James E. Trinkley Jr., 53, of Butler was arrested for DUI on Route 8 just south of Hall Road in Brady Township.

And it didn’t take him long to acknowledge he had too much to drink that night.

Soon after being pulled over for having a burned out brake light, he admitted he had five beers in the past 90 minutes, according to court documents. He also declared, “I’m drunk,” during field sobriety testing.

A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.149 percent.

In addition to DUI, Trinkley is charged with the lighting violation, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

Sept. 21 — Police charged a Mississippi man caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop last month in Springfield Township.

The suspect, Shawn C. Purvis, 31, of Lucendale was stopped about 2:50 a.m. Aug. 20 for driving a vehicle with a broken taillight on Route 208 at the Hampton Inn.

A subsequent search turned up suspected marijuana, a methamphetamine pipe, digital scale and other drug items. Purvis is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving without a license.

Wednesday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited the Italian Society of Butler on Hickory Street in Butler for a small games of chance violation. An administrative law judge will hear the case.
