CHERRY TWP — Out of kindness and compassion, eighth-grade science class students, seventh-grade students and staff members in Moniteau School District recently collected 1,400 new items to donate to families affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The supplies were delivered in Texas by Hindman Trucking of Butler.

Families and students also made monetary contributions to the American Red Cross.

PROSPECT — Fourth-grade teachers and students at Moraine Elementary School in the Slippery Rock School District adopted the fourth grade class of Robert E. Lee Elementary School in Port Arthur, Texas. The area was devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

They collected donations of back-to-school supplies, books and games for 110 children who lost nearly everything.

SAXONBURG — Students and staff at South Butler Intermediate Elementary School collected more than 25 buckets of school supplies to send to Texas with Brother’s Brother Foundation for Hurricane Harvey victims.

The teachers also held a jean day to raise a monetary donation.
