[naviga:h3]GCC LB Jaszcar nets rookie honors[/naviga:h3]

GROVE CITY — Grove City College freshman linebacker Carl Jaszcar has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference and ECAC Division III South Rookie of the Week.

Jaszcar had a career-high 19 tackles and forced a fumble Saturday against Case West Reserve. The 19 tackles were the most in a game by a GCC football player in 13 years.

[naviga:h3]County golfers help GCC place fourth[/naviga:h3]

ALLISON PARK — Three golfers from Butler County helped Grove City College place fourth out of 11 teams at the La Roche Invitational Saturday.

Freshman Scott Hangliter (Mars) tied for ninth in the 61-golfer field with a 79. Ryan Koenig (Cranberry Township), a junior, shot an 80 while Anthony Smaldino (Butler) carded an 81.

[naviga:h3]SRU’s Martin nets PSAC West honors[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior defensive end Marcus Martin has been named PSAC West Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Martin had nine tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in Saturday’s 33-7 win over Lock Haven. He is the NCAA Division II all-time leader in career tackles for loss (79.5) and sacks (47). He needs 6.5 sacks to break the all-time college football record.
