Man sentenced in Butler police chase

Deonta M. Mobley

An Allegheny County man was sentenced to state prison in Butler County Court on Thursday for charges stemming from a high-speed chase in September 2016.

Deonta M. Mobley, 24, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to 16 to 32 months in a state correctional facility by Judge William Shaffer.

The charges stem from an incident that began at 200 E. Pearl St., Butler, on Sept. 15, 2016, when officers responded to a report of suspected drug activity in a parked Chevrolet Impala.

Officers saw the vehicle and attempted to pull it over on North McKean Street, but the vehicle continued onto Main Street, going more than 80 mph, according to court documents.

Police pursued the vehicle until it reached the intersection of Route 8 and one of the Clearview Mall exits, where the vehicle crossed over the median between the mall's entrance and exit lanes, hitting another vehicle.

The Impala was towed, but not before police found in plain view 101 bags of heroin, according to the police report.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
