The 20th annual Alameda Septemberfest will feature a fishing tournament, car cruise, 5K, and craft and vendor show Sunday at Alameda Park. Also planned are games, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, live music and entertainment. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free as is parking. Call 724-284-5383.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will be the site of a free exotic animal show, presented by TASOW, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road. The show will feature mostly reptiles and amphibians that have been rescued from people who had them as pets and were unable to take care of them. Jennings is open regularly from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Visit www.events.dcnr.pa.gov or call 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township will be the site of a Warblers and Waterfowl Bird Hike from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday (meet under the Route 528 bridge). Call 724-368-3612 or 724-368-8811.

Nautical Nature, the pontoon boat at Moraine State Park, operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October. For reservations, call 724-368-9185.

Tours of Preston Park in Butler Township will be offered on Oct. 7 and Nov. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The 2- to 3-hour walking tour is available at no cost to township residents and their guests. McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, just over the county line into Lawrence County off Route 422, will host the annual Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The festival, sponsored by the Portersville-Prospect Rotary, celebrates the operational time period of the historical gristmill, from 1852 to 1928. Arts and crafts, music and free tours of the mill will be offered. A Civil War encampment will have live cannon fire. An “old time” church service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Sunday. A Star Party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will be 7:15 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, near the village of Russellton, Frazer Township, Allegheny County. Call 724-224-2510.
