Penn’s Colony Festival & Folk Art Marketplace will be Saturday and Sunday on the grounds at 365 Saxonburg Blvd., Clinton Township. Penn’s Colony weaves French and Indian War era history of the Pittsburgh region into a colonial festival. Admission includes two stages of entertainment, period performers, music, battle re-enactments, craft and history demonstrations, food purveyors and children’s activities. Pets are not allowed. Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., has in its collection Asian art and pieces of German Meissen porcelain. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Guided tours are available with advanced notice for no extra charge. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, offers tours that include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens age 60 and older, and $3 for youths ages 6 to 17. Call 724-452-7341.

Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, 401 Meadowcroft Road, Avella, Washington County, which includes the Rockshelter, site of early human habitation, plus a 16th century eastern woodland Indian village and a historic village featuring elements of everyday family life in the mid-19th century, will have a Frontier Heritage Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. PITTSBURGH

Carnegie Science Center on the North Side will have girls rock science activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Science Center will be closed Oct. 8-13 and 22. Hours for fall and winter are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Regular admission is $18.95 for adults and $11.95 for children ages 3 to 12; films are extra. Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park presents “From Maps to Mermaids: Carved Powder Horns in Early America” through Jan. 14. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, $4 for retired and active military, and $3.50 for students with a valid ID and children ages 6 to 17.
