Kimmey KSAC golf champ

Runners from Butler, Seneca Valley and Pine-Richland take off from the starting line during the cross country meet Tuesday at Butler High School. Seneca Valley's boys and girls won the meet.

Moniteau's boys golf team capped its Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference title with a 15-stroke victory over Forest Area and Karns City in the final Mega-Match of the season at Foxburg Country Club Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors, led by Weston Kimmey's 37, totaled 213 strokes.

Moniteau's run to the title included wins in the final six Mega-Matches.

Rounding out the Warriors' top scorers were Nate Tack (41), Ethan McDeavitt (41), Logan Inverso (44) and David McGregor (50).

Kimmey also locked up the conference's individual title, averaging 38.1 strokes per nine holes this season. Coming in second both for the season and in Tuesday's match was Karns City's Hunter Gifford (41.3-40).

KC's golfers included Logan Pistorius (44), Brayden Wilson (46), Josh Whitmire (48) and Matt Wolfe (50). The Gremlins placed second to Moniteau in the final team standings.

A-C Valley/Union finished seventh for the season. The team was led Tuesday by Brock Weigle's 46 and Ross Moser's 48.

Seneca Valley advanced six golfers from the Section 3-AAA tournament held at Cranberry Highlands.

The field was led by Adam Bushee's one-under par 69. Zach Brown (70), Paul Lopiccolo (71), Mark McNulty (71), Zach Gehm (77) and Jacob Marquardt (78) will also golf in next week's WPIAL semifinals.

Two Butler golfers will join them — Brayden Setnar (75) and Drew Kukla (80).

The target score was 81.

Freeport 217, St. Joseph 225 — Morgan Penn's career-low of 35 included two birdies, six pars and a bogey. It is a team-low this season for the Yellowjackets (9-3, 7-2).

In a showdown of unbeatens, Karns City's Rebecca Pennington blew away the competition as the Gremlins defeated A-C Valley/Union, 23-33.Pennington's time of 21 minutes was nearly five minutes faster than her nearest competitor, A-C Valley/Union's Emilee Klingler.KC improved to 4-0 and A-C Valley/Union drops to 3-1.On the boys' side, Tye Sapien placed second to lead A-C Valley/Union to a 22-33 win.
