Steven Pennington of Butler, registered sex offender wanted for absconding.

A registered sexual offender who had been living in Butler is now missing.

City police Tuesday obtained a felony arrest warrant for Steven M. Pennington, 34, a convicted sex offender who is charged with failing to register at his new address in Butler.

Pennington's last registered address with state police was on the 400 block of Zeigler Avenue in Butler, according to court documents. But authorities recently learned that he had recently been living at a home on Shore Street.

City police this week went to the home but could not find Pennington or any of his personal belongings there. A neighbor reported that the defendant had vacated the premises about a month earlier and moved to Florida.
