BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board on Monday night approved the terms of a three-year contract with the Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ.

There are 44 custodial and maintenance employees who belong to the union, though there were 23 vacant positions as of Monday.

The vacancies will be filled once the contract goes into effect, officials said.

The union’s previous agreement expired at the end of June. The new agreement will cover from July to June 30, 2020.

The agreement was discussed in an executive session Monday and voted on pending the solicitor’s approval.

School board members declined to comment on the terms of the agreement, which will become public after it is ratified by the union.
