CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians added a walk-off win to a streak that has had everything.

Jay Bruce hit an RBI double in the 10th inning as the Indians rallied for their 22nd straight win to extend their AL record, beating the Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Thursday night to move within four wins of matching the 1916 New York Giants for the longest streak in major league history.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Ravens placed running back Danny Woodhead on injured reserve with a hamstring injury Thursday.

Woodhead injured his left leg in the first quarter of the season opener and did not return. He missed part of training camp with a hamstring injury to the same leg.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has practiced on a limited basis for the first time since spraining his left ankle more than three weeks ago.

The three-time Pro Bowler took two steps in his recovery on Thursday. He took part in some individualized drills and followed that by participating in some team drills in preparation for Monday night’s home opener against the Detroit Lions.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles has been named the WNBA’s most valuable player.

The league announced the award Thursday before the Lynx hosted Washington in Game 2 of their best-of-five semifinal series. Fowles received 35 of 40 first-place votes from a media panel.

NEW YORK — The hopes of an NFL ratings comeback in the season’s opening week were washed out by hurricane coverage on Sunday.

According to Nielsen data, the overall audience for the first week’s games was down 13 percent over last season

Regional CBS games took in 13.4 million viewers, down 17 percent from last year’s opening week. Fox regional contests scored 11.3 million viewers, a 28 percent drop. Fox’s national game averaged 22.8 million viewers, down 17 percent.
