Adams' 3 TDs lifts Grove City to win

Trey Adams rushed for 77 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns to help Grove City slide by Conneaut, 28-12, in region play.

The Eagles (3-0, 2-0) held a slim 14-12 advantage entering the fourth quarter. Grove City was able to pull away when Adams scored on 14 and 2 yard runs.

Logan Lutz led the Eagles with 144 yards, while Brady Callahan added 103 for Grove City.

Freeport 31, Deer Lakes 0 — Connor Selinger scored two touchdowns for the Yellowjackets to propel them to a conference win on the road.

Jake Sarver and Garreett Schaffhauser also had touchdowns for Freeport (2-0, 1-0).

Hickory 27, Slippery Rock 0 — The Hornets were tough at home, rushing for 235 yards and two scores in a victory over the Rockets.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 40, Mohawk 24 — The Trojans (2-1, 2-0) protected their position at the top of the Midwestern Conference with a big win.

Rochester 28, Summit Academy 18 — The Knights (0-2, 0-2) fell behind 22-6 at the half and weren't able to catch up.

Keystone 34, Union/A-C Valley 26 — The Falcon Knights (0-3, 0-2) made a late comeback, but couldn't win their KSAC Small School Division matchup.

Shaler edged Butler by two strokes, 203-205, at Lakevue North Friday in a section matchup.

Drew Kukla shot a team-high 38 for the Golden Tornado (3-5, 3-5). Nick Penrod (40 and Tarik Taoufik (41) were the next two lowest scorers for Butler.

Tanner Grzegorczyk led Shaler with a 37.

St. Joseph's 229, Freeport 239 — Freeport's Morgan Penn shot a 36, which was four strokes better than the next closest golfer at Brackenridge Heights Golf Course, but it wasn't enough to propel the Yellowjackets (6-3, 5-2) to a section win.
