Kip Zulick, Sue Zulick-Check and Kelly Zulick kneel at the grave of their son and brother Brad Zulick, who died of an opiate overdose in 2016.

Brad Zulick, 29, of Butler Township, who died in March 2016, was one of 74 people in Butler County who died from an overdose in 2016.

His addiction and subsequent death left friends and family members walking a long road back from heartache.

“Every day is still different,” said Kelly Zulick, Brad's sister. “(I'm) able to function, but there's still days where you just cry, and it's hard to get through the day.”

Brad's mother, Sue Zulick-Check, talked about her son's life, his struggles with addiction and how she's coped with the loss:

Brad's family stays active almost a year and a half after his death.

Zulick-Check relies on her faith in God to get her through hard times. She takes comfort knowing that Brad also had faith.

“I believe he's in a better place,” she said.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
