Maria Lucas recorded 11 kills, 28 digs and two aces as the Butler volleyball team swept Mars 25-21, 26-24, 25-12 Wednesday night.

Tabitha Walker added nine kills and 13 digs and Sophia Lucas pitched in 36 digs for the Golden Tornado.

Girls Soccer

Lindsie Galbreath scored four goals as Knoch rolled to a 5-0 win over Highlands.

Jenna Stallsmith also scored for the Knights (2-0).

Karns City 7, Clarion 0 — Hannah Knoll had three goals and an assist for the Gremlins (2-0). Haley Scherer added two goals, Hunter Dittman a goal and assist and Kendall Colwell a goal.

Cambree Powers was the KC goalkeeper. Karns City plays Monday at Redbank.

Freeport 3, Burrell 0 — Kaylee Comperatore, Sidney Shemanski and Carlie Giori each scored goals for the Yellowjackets in a game suspended due to lightning with 32:10 remaining in the second half.

Boys Soccer

Ryan Davey and Alex Buffalo each scored two goals to lead Slippery Rock to a 10-2 rout of West Middlesex.

Kurt Baxa, Chase Gill, Chase Wolinski, Garret Daugherty, Scott Hust and Colton Callen also scored for the Rockets (1-2).

Butler 2, Ambridge 1 — Tate Mohney scored two goals — including the game-winner with five minutes left in double overtime — as Butler nipped Ambridge in this Tuesday night game.

Remy Pardo assisted on Mohney's first goal and Adam Blose assisted on the game-winner. Andrew Chwalik was the winning goaltender.

Cross Country

Sami Jo Barnes won the girls race with a time of 21 minutes, 46 seconds to lead Knoch to a win in a four-team meet.

Knoch scored 30 points. Freeport was second with 58.

The Knoch boys also won with 26 points, besting Deer Lakes, which finished second with a 47.

Freeport's Johnathan Asay, though, won the boys race with a time of 18:10.
