Christian biker group seeks more members

The motorcycles were gathered in the church parking lot on a sunny summer day, some older models, others more recent and even one with a sidecar.

The riders, clad in black leather vests, stood near their bikes, talking and joking, looking like any other group of motorcyclists.

But this group has a far different mission and vision than other motorcycle clubs.

The Rev Elation Riders strive to spread the word of God to motorcyclists everywhere, as part of the Christian Motorcyclists Association.

The Butler chapter is a diverse group, boasting men and women, young and more mature riders, but all with the same goal.

“Our primary mission is to share the Gospel and change the world, one heart at a time,” said Homer Clark, who has been a member since 2004 and is the treasurer of the group.

The Rev Elation Riders take their motorcycles out almost every weekend, said David Bombara, chapter president. The group rides to festivals, fairs and motorcycling gatherings, as well as doing charity rides for veterans, children and people with addictions, Bombara said.

There are no dues, and no particular motorcycle is needed to join the Christian Motorcyclists Association, Bombara said. “We are just a bunch of wonderful people who love Jesus and love motorcycles.”

The group meets at 9 a.m. the third Saturday of each month at Mac's Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road. Anyone is welcome to attend and learn about the Rev Elation Riders.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
