Police accuse father, son of stealing tools on video

Adams Township police arrested a father and son after they allegedly were caught on video stealing tools worth thousands of dollars.

Robert Eugene Kline, 51, and Robert Aaron Kline, 27, both of Valencia, are charged with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.

They are in Butler County Prison each with $15,000 bail.

Police responded to a call from the victim, Tim Waldrop, who claimed he had it all on tape.

“Mr. Waldrop said that he has had items stolen from a garage located at 209 Sunnyhill Road recently so he installed a trail camera facing the garage,” Detective Mike Bailey, the arresting officer, said in his report. “Waldrop checked the cameras and saw two known actors removing tools from inside the open garage doors.”

He identified Robert Eugene Kline as one of the thieves.

Police found that Kline happened to be at District Judge Sue Haggerty’s office for a separate case. Bailey called and had him arrested and transported to the Adams police department.

“I interviewed Robert Kline Sr.,” Bailey said. “After being presented with the trail cam photos he admitted his involvement in the theft.”

Kline admitted to several other thefts as well, though he didn’t admit to taking all the things that were reported missing.

“He admitted being a heroin user and using as much as he could get per day,” Bailey said.

Kline Jr. was then interviewed and though he initially denied his involvement, he ultimately confessed to taking the tools. The Klines will be arraigned in late September.

Upon searching the Klines’ vehicle, police found a chain saw, nail gun, tripod, weed trimmer, air framing gun and an air staple gun. The value of these tools is more than $2,000.
