Butler hires acting business manager

BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board approved a contract Monday night hiring an acting business manager.

Nick Morelli, a retired school business manager with 36 years of experience, will fill in on a temporary basis while the district's director of business services position is vacant.

Morelli will be paid $400 per day and will work as needed and at the discretion of the superintendent. The pay was based on $96,000 salary, which is what was included in the 2017-18 school budget, officials said.

Brian White, Butler's new school superintendent who is set to start work Sept. 1, said he recommended Morelli. White said he plans to discuss the business manager position and other vacant positions with administrators when he officially joins the district.

“We have to get finances in order very quickly,” he said.

Previous business director Debbie Brandstetter left the district in May to take another position.

School board member Bill Halle voted against the contract, citing the cost.
