James and Joyce Whitmire

James and Joyce Whitmire of Petrolia celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner at Rachel’s Roadhouse in Butler.

Whitmire married the former Joyce Truesdale on Aug. 12, 1967, at First Baptist Church in Butler.

They have four children, Cathie Whitmire of Erie, Michael Whitmire of Karns City, Scott Whitmire of West Sunbury and Nicole Whitmire of Philadelphia.

They also have four grandchildren.

Whitmire is a retired farmer and bus driver.

Mrs. Whitmire retired from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management Retirement Operations Center.

The Whitmires are members of Community Alliance Church in Butler.
