Bags of suspected crack cocaine and raw heroin were seized Thursday during a raid on West Quarry Street.
Heroin, cocaine allegedly found

Butler County Drug Task Force officers seized suspected heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana from a Butler apartment during a Thursday night raid, authorities said.

Claude T. Taylor, 22, was home and arrested, ending up in the Butler County Prison on $150,000 bail. He is facing multiple felony counts of drug possession.

County Detective Tim Fennell, who heads the task force, described Taylor as a “mid-level dealer.”

Officers about 8:30 p.m. converged on Taylor's apartment on West Quarry Street with a search warrant.

Fennell said authorities in early August began an investigation of the defendant's alleged narcotics trafficking, which included at least two controlled drug buys in Butler.

During the search, according to court documents, officers turned up 14.25 grams of heroin, 6.3 grams of crack and 175.8 grams of marijuana.

Fennell said the one-half ounce of raw heroin was contained in one bag and the crack was also in a single bag. The 6.2 ounces of marijuana was in eight baggies.

Additionally, officers recovered $1,304 in currency, several digital scales and marijuana grinders, and three cell phones.

Along with Taylor, his live-in girlfriend, a toddler and Michael Lee Hutchinson, a suspected associate of the defendant, were at the apartment.

Officers arrested Hutchinson on a probation violation. He was searched and allegedly found with less than one gram of suspected heroin.

Fennell said charges are pending against Hutchinson in connection with the search.

District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Taylor on three felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance as well as multiple misdemeanor possession charges,

Butler police and Butler Township police assisted the task force in executing the warrant.
