Regarding “Butler mulls change: Commencement might be revamped” (Aug. 15, Page 1).

It’s a legal issue, not a “values” issue. People are mistaking the change as a statement of support for gender fluidity, when in reality, it’s just a matter of pragmatism.

Whether or not you believe in the LGBTQ movement, you shouldn’t want your tax dollars wasted on fighting an easily avoidable lawsuit. This change protects the school district from two different liabilities at once, at virtually no cost.
