SR man gives guilty plea in shooting case

Agreement calls for probation

A Slippery Rock man, charged with firing a gun at an occupied home, pleaded guilty in Butler County Court on Wednesday.

Erik K. Dubois, 29, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct before county Judge William Shaffer.

The plea agreement calls for 12 months' probation, restitution and fines. He is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date.

Dubois was initially charged with felony discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, firearms not to be carried without a license, two counts of aggravated assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm prohibited, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, summary harassment, criminal trespass and driving on a suspended license after an incident in Venango Township on Sept. 10, 2016.

The remaining charges will be dismissed as part of the plea.

State police said Dubois was involved in an argument with another person outside that man's home on Blair Road, before he returned in his pickup truck and fired three pistol shots, which hit the side of the house.

The homeowner and another person were inside the house at the time, but no injuries were reported.
