Police release name of man found dead Thursday

Corey Lee Kleinfelder

State police have released the identity of a man whose body was found Thursday afternoon in a corn field off Route 228 East in Clinton Township

Corey Lee Kleinfelder, who was 28, died not far from his home in Clinton Township. Foul play was not suspected.

Investigators believe Kleinfelder died of an apparent drug overdose, police Cpl. Timothy Morando said this morning.

The cause of death, however, is pending toxicology results and the final autopsy report.

A woman riding a horse on her property notified authorities about 3 p.m. after finding Kleinfelder's body. He had been carrying no identification or cell phone but police were able to identify him by his tattoos.

Police had been looking for Kleinfelder about 12 hours earlier, Morando said, after a call from his mother at 2:39 a.m.

“She said her son just ingested heroin and was not acting right,” Morando said.

But by the time police and a Saxonburg Ambulance crew got to the home on Route 228 East, Kleinfelder had walked away.

Troopers, assisted by Middlesex Township, searched the area about 45 minutes but to no avail.
