[naviga:h3]Butler grad Weyand gets preseason nod[/naviga:h3]

ERIE — Butler graduate Rachel Weyand, a senior defender on the Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team, has been selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Defensive Preseason Player of the Year.

This is the second straight year Weyand has received this honor. She was AMCC Defensive Player of the Year in 2016, starting every game on defense and helping the Lions post a 1.14 goals-against average with nine shutouts.

PSU Behrend is picked to repeat as AMCC champion in the preseason coaches poll.

[naviga:h3]McClellan cards 141 at Pa. Open[/naviga:h3]

GULPH MILLS — Butler Country Club pro Rob McClellan carded a 71 Tuesday and has a 1-under-par 141 through the first two rounds of the 101st Pennsylvania Open Golf Championship at Gulph Mills Golf Club.

McClellan trails leader J.D, Dornes of Lancaster by 11 strokes. Dornes has a one-stroke lead over Greg Jarmas of Narberth.

Joe Boros of Saxonburg was 8-over-par for the tournament and did not make the cut for Wednesday’s final round.
