2:12 a.m. Thursday — A Lawrence County man was found with suspected marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop for speeding on West Brady Street.

Police said the suspect, 32-year-old Michael T. Falba of New Castle, was driving with a suspended license and his Jeep smelled of burned marijuana.

When Falba was removed from the vehicle, according to court documents, an officer noticed a bag of suspected marijuana along the side of the driver’s seat. Another bag of suspected marijuana turned up in the seat’s map pocket.

Additionally, police found a pack of rolling papers on the driver’s floor and a marijuana pipe in the center console, documents said.

Falba is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving during suspension.

2:26 p.m. Aug. 6 — Tamara Orait, 33, allegedly lied to authorities when she called 911 to report two females were in her house on Younkins Road and would not leave.

Based on the report, officers went into the house and checked all the rooms for the supposed females. Police found no one inside or no evidence to corroborate the defendant’s report.

Orait is charged with making a false report.

Wednesday — Police charged two teenagers with taking 13 Xbox games from one store July 19 and selling them at another store.

The suspects — Braden T. Stevenson, 18, of East Brady, and Kaleb A. Young, 18, of Karns City — are accused of taking the merchandise, valued at $338, from Wal-Mart at Butler Commons. Police said they then sold the items at the Game Stop at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.

Stevenson and Young are each charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft by deception, all first-degree misdemeanors.

Wednesday — Theresa L. Davidson, 53, of Mars was charged in an alleged shoplifting incident last month at the Butler Commons’ Wal-Mart.

Police allege Davidson failed to scan 13 items in her shopping cart at the self-checkout counter. The suspected theft was caught on store video surveillance, according to a police report.

Davidson is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

2:16 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by a Butler County teenager rear-ended another vehicle on East Main Street. The accident occurred when Austin Birckbichler, 18, of Brady Township struck the back of a vehicle that was making a turn.

Calvin Frelix, 55, of Grove City was the other driver. No injuries were reported.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

8:40 a.m. Friday — A 12-year-old girl was one of two people hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. The child and Deanna L. McIndoe, 27, of Connoquenessing, one of the drivers, were both taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

Police said McIndoe’s sport utility vehicle struck the back of a car driven by Richard D. Gall, 67, of Butler, which was stopped to make a right turn into a convenience store just east of Bennett Court.

The girl, who police did not identify, was a back seat passenger in the car. She and McIndoe were both wearing seat belts.

Police cited McIndoe for two license violations including driving during suspension, following too closely to another vehicle, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

Aug. 7 — Crystal D. Myers, 49, of Butler was charged with drunken driving in connection with a July traffic stop in Center Township. Troopers said they pulled over Myers about 12:45 a.m. July 2 on Route 8 for speeding and crossing the center line.

The defendant smelled of alcohol, according to court documents, and she appeared to be intoxicated. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. A breath test later showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.153 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Myers is charged with driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes, speeding and careless driving.

July 28 — Samuel J. Beck, 51, of Center Township was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a June traffic stop in Oakland Township.

Police said they saw the defendant make an abrupt turn without using signals about 7 p.m. June 26 at Center and Conway drives, and stop his car. He was pulled over a short time later on Shearer Road.

Police said they saw an open can of beer in the center console. Police said the driver admitted drinking alcohol earlier in the day. Police said he also appeared “extremely nervous.”

When Beck got out of the vehicle, one of the troopers noticed a crack pipe on the driver’s side floor, documents said. He eventually failed an evaluation by a drug recognition expert and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Toxicology results showed Beck tested positive for cocaine and the prescription painkiller tramadol.

He was charged with driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, failing to use turn signals and driving with an open container of alcohol.

July 25 — Keith J. Fowler, 47, of Mercer Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from a one-vehicle wreck in June in Slippery Rock Township. The crash happened June 24 when Fowler’s vehicle became stuck on an embankment on Grove City Road near Coal Hill Lane.

Police said a passing motorist stopped to check on the driver’s condition and found the suspect “sitting on the embankment holding a hypodermic,” according to court documents.

The defendant subsequently got back into his vehicle and drove away. The other motorist, however, followed Fowler, who pulled into his trailer on Shields Road. Police said when they got there they found his car with minor front-end damage and grass in the bumper.

Fowler, who appeared impaired, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a drug recognition expert’s evaluation and a blood test. On his way, documents said, he admitted that he has been using heroin “on and off for 10 years.”

Earlier that day, police said, he told troopers that he was driving to get cigarettes but used heroin at a friend’s house.

Toxicology reports July 6 showed that Fowler had the synthetic opioid painkiller fentanyl in his system, documents said.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

Aug. 8 — A Curlsville man and Rimersburg woman waived to court charges of having drugs and items to make methamphetamine stemming from a July traffic stop in Piney Township.

Thomas D. Kifer, 35, and Holly Renee Wells, 24, are both being held in the Clarion County Jail on a list of felony and other charges.

Police said they stopped the pair about 7:45 p.m. July 15 on Huckleberry Ridge after recognizing Wells in the passenger seat. She was already wanted on an unrelated felony warrant, according to a police report.

Troopers allegedly found drugs and other contraband including materials to make meth. They also found a 16-year-old boy riding in the vehicle.

Kifer and Wells were both charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy, possession of esters/salts/isomers with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and illegal possession of ephedrine.

Additionally, Kifer is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, child endangerment, hindering apprehension of Wells and driving without insurance.
