9:22 p.m. Thursday — Police and emergency crews were called for an apparent heroin overdose at a building on the 100 block of North Main Street.

An unknown 911 caller reported that the victim, later identified as Dustin Bowser, 37, of Butler, was found unconscious on a hallway step, police said. Paramedics administered the opioid antidote Narcan, which revived Bowser.

He told authorities that he had “snorted heroin,” according to a police report. He refused further medical treatment. The police report did not indicate any drugs or contraband were found.

Tuesday — Randi L. Robinson, 30, was charged with leaving her two young children unsupervised in June at the family’s home in Clay Township.

Police went to the home on the 200 block of Muddy Creek Drive about 11 a.m. June 12 after getting a call for two children wandering alone. One child, a 5-year-old boy, was near a pond.

The boy, according to court documents, was “removing his clothes in an attempt to get in the pond.”

A neighbor found the other child, a 3-year-old girl, who was walking in the center of the road.

Police went to the children’s home and found both the front and rear doors wide open. They also found Robinson, the mother, sleeping upstairs. She was unaware the children had left the house, documents said.

She told troopers, according to a police affidavit, “My husband must not have woke me before he left for work.”

She said she had not slept in a few days and had taken the prescription sleeping aid Ambien. She also told police that she “normally gets up early with her children,” the affidavit said.

Robinson is charged with two counts of child endangerment.

Tuesday — Ryan L. Hodges, 30, of Evans City was charged with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol following a traffic stop last month in Clay Township.

Police said they stopped Hodges about 2:30 a.m. July 8 after they saw his car weaving on the 2400 block of Route 8. The car also crossed the fog line three times, court documents said.

The defendant smelled of alcohol and he admitted he had been drinking. While he was performing a field sobriety test, documents said, he stopped and stated, “I’m drunk.”

A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.164 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Hodges is charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

Tuesday — A couple was arraigned on charges stemming from the forgery of several checks taken from a Concord Township home in February.

The defendants — Kurt R. Kelly, 39, of Concord Township and Amanda L. Dennett, 31, no known address — were placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail each following their arraignments.

They both are charged with felony forgery and misdemeanor theft.

Police began their investigation March 21 after the victim, Linda Kelly, reported the theft of unused checks from her home on the 200 block of Hindman Road, where Kurt Kelly also lives.

Court documents did not indicate the relationship between Kurt Kelly and Linda Kelly. A telephone call to the investigating trooper was not returned Friday.

Linda Kelly said eight of the stolen checks were forged using her name between Feb. 20 and March 2. The loss totaled $1,280.

Police later spoke to the defendants. Kurt Kelly admitted he was involved in the theft and forgery, documents said. Dennett acknowledged her role in the forgery but not the theft of the checks.

Tuesday — Police charged David L. Cubbage, 31, with having two full Mason jars of marijuana at his Marion Township home in 2015.

Troopers on Oct. 6, 2015, showed up at Cubbage’s home on Windy Point Lane in connection with an unrelated investigation. On the porch, police could smell a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the house, according to court documents.

The defendant, police said, acknowledged he had marijuana in the kitchen freezer. He subsequently turned over the two full jars and a third Mason jar that was a quarter way full of marijuana.

“Cubbage related that he had received the marijuana for a wedding gift recently,” a police affidavit said.

He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

9:45 a.m. July 28 — A two-vehicle crash on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township left one of the drivers, Michael J. Earley, 29, of Butler, with a suspected minor injury.

Police said Earley’s northbound car crossed the center double yellow line and struck a truck tractor that was traveling south.

Earley was cited for driving outside of his lane.

2:45 p.m. Wednesday — A woman and child were apparently hurt in a three-vehicle wreck at Route 268 and Pine Street in East Franklin Township.

The crash happened when a car driven by Dietrich S. Ortman, 18, of Kittanning struck the back of a car driven by Bethany E. Chestnutt, 29, of Kittanning. Chestnutt was stopped and waiting to turn at the time.

The collision pushed Chestnutt’s car into opposing traffic where it was struck by a car driven by Harry J. Shuttleworth, 67, of Kittanning. A police report noted that Shuttleworth swerved but was unable to avoid the crash.

Chestnutt and her passenger, an 8-year-old boy, were taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township, with unknown injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

Police cited Ortman for careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.

4:59 p.m. Thursday — John G. Snyder, 65, of Parker was seriously injured when a two-vehicle crash left him trapped in his pickup truck on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township.

Pine Township volunteer firefighters extricated Snyder from the wreckage near the Mercer-Butler County line and a medical helicopter later flew him to Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. His condition was not known.

Police said the crash happened when Snyder’s truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was stopped in front of him in the right east bound lane. Snyder was wearing a seat belt.

The other driver, Michael G. Silvis, 36, of Oil City, Venango County, who was wearing a seat, was not hurt.

The pickup sustained severe damage and the rig had minor damage. Both vehicles had to be towed.
