Board approves deal to sell Oakland school

BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board ratified the sales agreement for Oakland Township Elementary School Wednesday night.

The board agreed to sell the vacant school on Chicora Road for $200,000 to Robert Oesterling, who plans to use it as a warehouse and distribution center for his business, Kingdom Vapor Wholesale of Clarion. The company supplies electronic cigarettes and vaping liquid to vape shops and other businesses.

Board members John Conrad and Bill Halle voted against the motion. Halle stated that he had concerns about the type of business that would be moving in.

Board member Leland Clark said that he would have been concerned about a vape shop opening at the school location, but Oesterling has said the building will be used strictly as a warehouse.

The sale is scheduled for a court hearing at 2 p.m. Aug. 18 before Judge S. Michael Yeager.

Another possible buyer could come to the hearing and make a higher offer, making it similar to an auction, said district solicitor Tom King.
